American Public Gas Association Joins Center for Energy Workforce Development

Partnership Emphasizes Importance of Industry Collaboration on Workforce Issues

WASHINGTON, D.C., April 16, 2021 – The Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) is pleased to announce that the American Public Gas Association (APGA) has become its most recent national association partner. In support of initiatives to build a skilled, diverse workforce pipeline to meet future industry needs, APGA joins CEWD’s other allies, including the American Gas Association, Distribution Contractors Association, Edison Electric Institute, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and the Nuclear Energy Institute.

“We are pleased to welcome APGA into the CEWD community and look forward to the strategic partnership the organization will bring as we work to generate greater awareness for energy careers,” noted Missy Henriksen, CEWD’s Executive Director. “It is important that those with a shared commitment to today’s preparations for tomorrow’s workforce harness the power of common thought, unified vision, and collaborative action. We know APGA will be a crucial partner in our efforts to build a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce, support companies in developing employees for an increasingly complex and technical energy field and support the needs of industry companies.”

“APGA looks forward to working with the Center for Energy Workforce Development,” said Dave Schryver, President and CEO of APGA. “CEWD is widely recognized for developing scalable workforce solutions to address the challenges facing the energy utility industry. We are excited to work with them on initiatives to help develop tomorrow’s energy workforce.”

This year, CEWD is celebrating its 15th year of service to the industry. Over the last decade and a half, the organization has served as a leader in the energy industry supporting initiatives including filling key jobs, strategizing to combat large-scale projected retirements, the need for data and best practice sharing, development of industry curriculum, veterans’ outreach, and more.
