Careers in Energy Week Wrap Up
Careers in Energy Week 2025 has come to a close but its impact will continue. A quick recap:
- Resolutions for Careers in Energy Week were introduced pro forma in both chambers of Congress. Led by Rep Glen “G.T.” Thompson and Donald Norcross and Senators Dave McCormick and Elissa Slotkin, the action demonstrates the engagement around talent development in energy. Read about it here.
- CEWD released a new report that offers a look at what the public knows about energy careers. The results were telling – we have a lot of work to do to demystify the first steps toward working in energy.
- We opened our virtual doors to welcome career seekers to learn more about energy jobs, welcoming 950 registrants for our Energy Works Forum and 120 registrants for the week’s PowHER Hour. Check out the YouTube video from our HirePowHER programming to connect women with skilled trade careers.
- We saw Gubernatorial proclamations, creative programming, and lots of pride evidenced on social media.
Connecting with the Next Generation of IBEW Leaders
CEWD attended the IBEW RENEW (Reach Out and Engage Next-gen Electrical Workers) Conference. IBEW brought together over 570 members to discuss membership engagement, future leadership, and connecting with new members. CEWD’s Julie Strzempko participated in a panel discussion on how to engage women and Gen Z in the skilled trades by highlighting CEWD’s Hire PowHER program, the Next Gen Energy Career Blueprint, and Energized Athletes programs.
The feedback from IBEW’s Civic and Engagement team was very encouraging with organizers noting, “we received such positive feedback from attendees who left ready to take new ideas back to their local unions.”
