Take Action in August: Take Action in August: Help Bring Energy Education to Schools
The approaching flip of the calendar will soon trigger CEWD’s Take Action in August initiative to engage the industry to spur adoption of energy curriculum in schools and ultimately have states adopt the Energy and Natural Resources Career Cluster. Learn why and how to engage throughout a series of webinars in August and into September.
The August 4 webinar will coach employers and labor partners on registering for the new EnergyConnector portal that will open in early August. All energy-focused organizations vested in building their workforce are strongly encouraged to enroll in this free matchmaking program for industry and educators.

DOE’s 21st st Century Energy Workforce Advisory Board Approved Recommendations to Secretary Wright
The Department of Energy’s 21st Century Energy Workforce Advisory Board, chaired by CEWD’s Missy Henriksen, approved a series of strategic recommendations to prioritize training for industry jobs, increase visibility of sector careers, and use the power of the Department for prioritized workforce development leadership. CEWD Connects with Labor Partners on Workforce Development Priorities
Earlier this month CEWD met with international office representatives for many of the labor unions engaged with energy workforce priorities. The group included representatives from AFL-CIO, IBB, IBEW, IUPAT, LiUNA, and NABTU. Finding value in the conversations, there was interest in monthly convenings for information sharing and collaboration in talent pipeline building programs.

ICYMI: CEWD and National Urban League Announce Creation of Urban Energy After-School Program
Earlier this month CEWD and the National Urban League announced a landmark partnership and transformative collaboration to prepare underserved urban youth with the skills, knowledge, and connections to succeed in high demand, financially rewarding energy careers. The partnership represents a significant step toward building a well-prepared generation of future energy leaders ready to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving industry. Read more here.
