EPRI Publishes Modernizing Energy Workforce Training: An Introduction to Active, Learner-Centric Learning Environments

Modernized energy workforce training is shifting the learning environment from passive and instructor-centered to active and learner-centric. Concepts such as adult learning, difficulty levels, and learning and instructional strategies play a pivotal role in shaping this learner-centric approach. We need a new, research-based model of training to successfully develop the energy workforce to meet the pace and scale of change needed to enable a reliable, affordable, and equitable energy transformation. Read the paper here, to see practical examples of strategies rooted in science of learning that can be applied to energy workforce training to foster an engaged and learner-centric experience are explored.

NEW EVENT ALERT – Seeking Volunteers

CEWD will hold a new event this year: Energy Workforce Fest. This new offering, taking place during the Workforce Development Summit, will invite Congressional staffers, Community Based Organizations, workforce systems, educators, and others to learn about the industry’s workforce needs and experience industry careers through simulated learning opportunities. 7 Jackson Teens Graduate from Consumers Energy School-to-Workplace Program

Consumers Energy celebrated the accomplishments of seven Jackson County Intermediate School District students, with a special graduation ceremony. The students have spent the last year taking part in Project SEARCH, a model program that provides students with developmental disabilities with first-hand job training and experience.
