CEWD Announces New Leadership to Advance Energy Workforce Development
Mark Lindgren to serve as organization’s chair, leading strategic initiatives on behalf of the industry
WASHINGTON, DC, June 18, 2025 – The Center for Energy Workforce Development’s (CEWD) board of directors has appointed its new leadership team, poised to advance strategic initiatives that cultivate a thriving energy workforce to power our nation.
The election of Mark Lindgren, executive vice president of corporate communications and chief human resources officer at St. Louis, Mo.- based Ameren, as board chair signifies a critical step for CEWD as it continues to strengthen its role unifying the industry and expanding programs to address workforce development needs.
“I am proud to take the helm of the Center for Energy Workforce Development at such a pivotal time for America’s energy future,” Lindgren said. “Developing a highly skilled workforce across the sector is paramount to driving continued innovation and progress, and I am eager to collaborate with our partners and staff to ensure we meet the evolving people needs to engineer, build, and operate, the country’s energy infrastructure.”
Lindgren succeeds Sheila Rostiac, senior vice president of human resources and chief human resources and diversity officer of PSEG, who served as CEWD’s board chair for the 2024-2025 term.

Supporting Lindgren will be a team of vice chairs and new directors, joining already-seated board members. Those with new roles or appointments include:
- Vice Chair, Member Success: Melanie Berman, chief human resource officer and executive vice president of administration, NiSource
- Vice Chair, Career Awareness: Daniella Piper, chief strategy officer, New York Power Authority
- Vice Chair, Education and Training: Tracey Steiner, chief engagement and consumer officer, Rappahannock Electric Cooperative
- Director: Scott Briggs, vice president of human resources, Oklahoma Gas and Electric Company
- Director: James Chesnut, senior vice president of nuclear operations, Day & Zimmermann
- Director: Drew Stover, utilities director, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
- Director: Tanya Terrell, director of corporate community impact, Baltimore Gas & Electric, an Exelon Company
CEWD recently released a three-year strategic plan to guide strategic imperatives associated with serving the diverse interests of the energy sector and serving as the first stop of information, collaboration, leadership, and resources for workforce planning, recruitment, development and retention. Strategic guidance of the new plan will be a top priority for the directors.
As the only national, neutral, cross-sector energy workforce intermediary, CEWD convenes the industry’s most influential voices to identify critical needs and drive practical solutions. In addition to supporting 140 energy companies, CEWD serves as the workforce development arm for the Association of Energy Services Professionals, American Gas Association, American Petroleum Institute, American Public Gas Association, American Public Power Association, Clean Power Institute, Distribution Contractors Association, Edison Electric Institute, Electric Power Research Institute, INGAA Foundation, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association, and the Nuclear Energy Institute.
