Executive Director – CEWD
WASHINGTON, October 16, 2023 –– The Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) is celebrating Careers in Energy Week through a national initiative that provides awareness and information about the rewarding career opportunities in the energy industry. Through Get Into Energy, CEWD is leading the collaborative effort with energy companies across the country to reach job seekers where they are via a limited-time chat feature, an energy-inspired Spotify Playlist, career collateral, and a robust digital marketing plan.
The new chat feature is available on GetIntoEnergy.org between October 16 and October 20, allowing job seekers, career changers, educators, parents and guardians, students, veterans as well as other prospective energy industry applicants to connect directly with energy professionals. Chat users are encouraged to ask questions about what it’s like working in energy and learn about the many ways in which they can find a promising, long-term career in energy.
“Career seekers, especially those from underrepresented communities, don’t often realize how many opportunities they have within the energy industry. We’re working to change that through our initiatives, particularly during Careers in Energy Week,” said Missy Henriksen, Executive Director of CEWD. “From engineers to technicians to those who support the business side of energy, employers are looking for people with all levels of experience, talents, and skills to join the industry and power the future. Our Careers in Energy Week efforts, especially our chat feature, lets these prospective applicants ask the questions that are really on their minds in a low-stress environment.”
Once Get Into Energy website visitors access the site during Careers in Energy Week, the chat feature will appear in the bottom right corner. Energy industry professionals will be live to chat between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. EDT daily. Beyond the core hours, chat users can still engage by submitting their questions and an energy professional will respond via email separately.
All are encouraged to engage with CEWD’s Get Into Energy chat function to connect with seasoned energy professionals to help them understand more about energy careers and how to join the industry. Prospective applicants may inquire about educational requirements, skilled trade training, opportunities in different types of energy businesses, corporate-based careers, and more.
Careers in Energy week is an industry-wide initiative to engage the current and future energy industry workforce while highlighting the important and rewarding work energy professionals do in their communities. CEWD is partnering with energy companies across the United States to provide the flagship chat function along with other educational materials and programming to spark interest during #CareersInEnergyWeek2023.
Beyond Careers in Energy Week, CEWD promotes careers in the energy industry through multiple initiatives throughout the year. It recently launched its Energy Industry Fundamentals Curriculum (EIF 2.0) to inspire high school and college-aged students to get into energy. This 120-hour curriculum is a free, virtual course that offers units to teachers to connect students with foundational learnings about energy and career opportunities. The modernization of its long-established EIF curriculum ensures the preparedness of a skilled, diverse energy workforce for future generations to come.
