CEWD Selected by U.S. Department of Labor for New Employment Navigator Partnership, Expanding Exposure of Energy Careers to Transitioning Veterans

“We are proud that CEWD and its Troops to Energy Jobs program have been selected for the ENPP. Veterans have significant skills that are directly transferable to the energy industry. The applicability of those skills is evidenced by the fact that almost double the number of veterans work in energy careers as the national workforce average (9% compared to 5%).”

CEWD Selected by U.S. Department of Labor for New Employment Navigator Partnership, Expanding Exposure of Energy Careers to Transitioning Veterans

WASHINGTON, D.C., June 28, 2024 –– The Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD) today announced that it was selected as an Employment Navigator and Partnership Program (ENPP) partner with the Department of Labor’s Veterans’ Employment and Training Service and has signed a three-year memorandum of understanding that will enable greater visibility of energy careers for those preparing to separate from the military. CEWD was one of eight new organizations selected for the program, joining an existing network of 56 businesses.

The ENPP provides one-on-one career assistance to interested transitioning service members and their spouses at select military installations worldwide through resources including apprenticeship opportunities, training, digital matching of skills and experiences, employment networking, mentoring and referrals, hiring events, placement services, and other services. The program assists individuals in securing meaningful and lasting post-separation careers, especially through connections to partner organizations that can provide additional employment services before and after their military separation.

“We are proud that CEWD and its Troops to Energy Jobs program have been selected for the ENPP,” noted Missy Henriksen, CEWD’s executive director. “Veterans have significant skills that are directly transferable to the energy industry. The applicability of those skills is evidenced by the fact that almost double the number of veterans work in energy careers as the national workforce average (9% compared to 5%),” Henriksen added. “With the significant hiring needs before the sector, increasing the visibility of energy careers and providing guidance about on-ramp opportunities has never been more important.”

CEWD’s Troops to Energy initiative was started as a pilot in 2011 to connect veterans and transitioning service men and women to utility jobs. Since then, the fully matured program has educated tens of thousands of individuals about energy careers, supported thousands in their search with free preparatory services, coaching, connections to military recruiters, access to an MOS translator, and more.
