The biggest advice I have for someone considering an energy career is apply – the experience is worth it! When I considered working in the energy industry, I hesitated to apply because working for a global energy company felt intimidating. In college, I was granted an opportunity to do an internship with Chevron at their Pascagoula Refinery that not only developed my skills as an engineer but also allowed me to learn more about the Oil and Gas Industry in general. After spending over 10 years at Chevron in a variety of roles, I realized the energy industry contains a variety of complex problems that need solutions to help deliver energy to our communities. There is always a new problem to solve as the world’s energy demand is rapidly evolving with new technologies being developed every day. My career in energy has allowed me to learn so much about how the world operates; visit places I would never have had the opportunity to travel to; and develop solutions to problems that were deemed impossible to solve.
