My fourth-grade science teacher offered me my very first introduction to STEM-centric study by teaching us physics and the laws of motion by roller-skating in the halls of our elementary school. From that moment on, I knew I wanted to become an engineer and continued participating in STEM programming alongside my academic studies.
I began my energy career at DTE as a summer student while pursuing my chemical engineering degree at Wayne State University. Over the years, I applied my knowledge and passion for engineering to a variety of roles but found my true purpose as a part of our Gas Operations leadership team. As an engineering leader, I have the opportunity to mentor those newly joining our company as well as enjoy volunteering with the Engineering Society of Detroit’s youth outreach and educational programming efforts.
As my engineering career has unfolded, I have never forgotten the teachers who first sparked my interest many years ago. Their impact continues by inspiring my ongoing work in underserved communities across Michigan, where together with my DTE colleagues, we engage our youth in the wonders of STEM study. These moments are especially meaningful as we’re inspiring our future engineers and scientists, today!
