I was born and raised in Oswego, NY, where my father worked in nuclear power. In 2001 I joined the Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne Division with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. After leaving the Army, I became a welder in Local 73 Plumbers and Steamfitters and started traveling nationwide to support nuclear outages with specialty welding companies Weld Tech and BHI Specialty. In 2017, I moved into supervision with BHI Specialty and later became lead mechanical superintendent at DC Cook where I met my wife. Today I work at Nine Mile Point nuclear station as a Weld Front Line Supervisor.
Over my journey, I’ve developed profound respect and gratitude for the skill, dedication, and character of my peers and Technicians. I feel proud that I get to be part of something truly impactful every day. To anyone considering a career in energy: do it! The travel broadens you; you’ll learn from the best craftsmen; the pay is strong; safety is woven into every job; and employers invest in people. I share these lessons with my daughter often and hope nuclear will continue to grow to create a sustainable future for her.
