Document Specialist for Project and Controls Substation, 9-year member of Local 600
In her role as a document specialist, Perez is responsible for preparing substation drawings for construction, a position that requires a lot of proofreading and attention to detail. She also liaises with consultants for all document requests.
In her own words:
I joined the utility industry in Delaware and was hired in the customer service department and eventually moved over to the credit department. I found the work I did very interesting, especially during storm duty. When I moved to Ohio, I knew I wanted to stay in the industry.
Knowing that a project is released and has been checked for any errors missed by the engineers or consultants makes me proud.
My advice to the next generation is to take chances. Don’t become comfortable doing what you’ve always known, learn something new!
