A career in the energy industry proves that no matter your education, your background, or where you begin, anything is possible. When I joined Constellation as an Armed Officer in Security ten years ago, I had no experience and very little knowledge of nuclear energy. My education was a PhD in Organizational Development and Leadership, and my career in higher education leadership and teaching was meaningful, but none of it was connected to the technical side of nuclear. Still, this industry embraced what I did bring: a passion for people, a desire to learn, and a commitment to growth. And from there, everything changed.
Constellation has opened doors I never imagined, giving me the opportunity to grow through roles such as Performance Improvement Analyst in Maintenance, Front Line Supervisor in Reactor Services, Site Reactor Services Manager, Operations Non Licensed Field Supervisor, and now Corporate Principal Performance Improvement Specialist. Each step has shown me that success in energy isn’t defined by where you start, instead it’s built through dedication, curiosity, and the belief that you can continually become more than you were yesterday.
For anyone considering an energy career, my message is this: don’t underestimate where your journey can lead. Bring your drive, your openness to learning, and your willingness to step into the unfamiliar. This industry doesn’t just offer jobs, it offers possibility, purpose, and the chance to transform not only your career, but your life.
