Fast Tracked EIF

Step 1 | Step 2 | Step 3 | Step 4 | Step 5

The following is the "Fast Track" for setting up your institution as an Approved Course Provider (ACP) for the Energy Industry Fundamentals (EIF) and an "At A Glance" guide to facilitate the teaching and implementation of the program. Please do take the time to familiarize yourself with the entire site, as there is considerably more detailed information there.

Step 1: Become an EIF Approved Course Provider.

In order to have your students take the assessment for the EIF credential, you must become an Approved Course Provider (ACP). This application must be completed and sent to Julie Strzempko at Julie@cewd.org for approval. You will find detailed information regarding the EIF in the Course Provider Handbook.

You will need to set up a username and password so that you can download the free course curriculum.

Step 2: Download EIF Course Modules.

The EIF Course Modules should be downloaded and the study guides should be printed out for the students. Each module is complete with a Unit Overview, Learner Expectations, Teaching Strategies, Pacing Chart, Guided Note Taking, Vocabulary Activity, Unit Review Questions, and Unit Quizzes, as well as all teaching material. There are study guides for both the instructor and student for module 1-5.

Step 3: Teach the class.

There are a couple of different ways to teach the class.

Option 1: Teach the class in person over a semester-long period (community college) or over the school year (high school). The course is approximately 130 hours in length. Use hard copies of the instructor and student guides. Each module contains a pacing guide. For a comprehensive view, please go to Pacing Guides.

Option 2: Teach the class using a blended learning approach. With this approach, students can read materials, take quizzes, and participate in scenario-based learning. Please contact Julie Strzempko at Julie@cewd.org for additional details and to access information for the online course modules.

Step 4: Procedures for Ordering EIF Assessments

1) Institutions will reach out to Julie Strzempko, Julie@cewd.org, two weeks prior to assessment date and request the number of assessments and the date.

2) Institutions will provide point of contact as to who should be receiving URL for assessments.

3) Institutions will generate a PO payable to CEWD for the number of assessments times the $30.00 assessment fee, i.e.: 15 students = $450.

4) The PO must include:

5) PO should be sent to Julie and she will process. The PO should be made payable to:
Center for Energy Workforce Development
701 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, 3rd Floor
Washington, DC 20004

6) An invoice will be generated by CEWD for the amount due.

Step 5: Process for taking the assessment

1) A URL is emailed to the instructor/proctor

2) Instructor gives students URL

3) Students log into the URL and are emailed and shown a code

4) This code should be written down as it will be needed should there be any technical difficulties

5) Students will be notified at the completion of the exam if they passed and at what score

6) Instructor or designated POC will be emailed certificates

Should there be any technical difficulties, contact Julie Strzempko at 413-575-8605 or Julie@cewd.org. If Julie is unavailable, contact Assessment Systems at 763-476-4764 and press 1 for service and support.
